Bellingham Select Board Backs 58-Unit Senior and Veteran Housing Project on Depot Street

BELLINGHAM — December 15, 2025 — Bellingham Select Board unanimously backs concept for 58-unit senior and veteran housing complex on Depot Street. Developer Kevin Lopolizer of Lopolizer Companies presented the Local Initiative Program proposal at the December 15 meeting, describing a cluster of single-story, ADA-compliant ranch units for residents 55 and older with veteran preference, on a 5.1-acre parcel at 46 Depot Street adjacent to existing housing authority properties. Town planner Joe Kurtz told the board the unanimous vote was a conceptual endorsement only, with a formal co-applicant letter to the state Executive Office of Housing and Livable Communities required before the project can advance. The board also received a progress update on the $16 million Hartford Avenue reconstruction, targeted for construction in federal fiscal year 2029, and awarded two town-meeting-funded contracts: a DPW generator at 215 Depot Street to Tilton Electric Inc. and a new well access road to Dandel Construction Inc. of Hansen. The board denied, 4-1, an abatement appeal on roughly $3,000 in water utility penalties at One Hemlock Street.
