Bellingham Select Board Previews $1.4M in Capital Requests Ahead of Town Meeting

BELLINGHAM — November 3, 2025 — Bellingham Select Board hears Enbridge pipeline briefing and previews $1.4 million in capital requests for November 19 town meeting. Algonquin Gas Transmission representatives, including community liaison Guy Glattus and land director Nancy Kiss, told the board Monday that the company plans to replace a 16-inch natural gas line with a 36-inch line along 3.3 miles of existing right-of-way in Bellingham, with construction targeted for 2029 and Eversource estimating more than $300 million in regional energy savings if the project is approved. Capital requests totaling $1,183,841 for items at or above $50,000 — led by a $465,745 backup generator for the DPW building — and $217,236 in smaller items were previewed ahead of the fall annual town meeting. Town Administrator Joe Leaden reported that free cash for FY26 was certified at $3,764,000 and that the Police Department has passed its accreditation review, with a formal ceremony expected in late 2025 or early 2026.
