Bellingham Council on Aging faces staffing strain as senior center activity surges. The board recorded 2,942 visits in a single week during March, 600 more than any other month this fiscal year, prompting Director Josie Dutil to indicate she may need to advocate for additional office staff. Treasurer Dave Dunbar reported the general fund 70.83 percent spent against a $334,851 budget.
Charter changes approved by the council did not make the May warrant deadline and will be brought to November town meeting, delaying a change that would allow Associate Steve Racicot to vote.
