Parks Commission approves prior minutes, reviews DPW agreements with schools.

Parks Commission · Meeting of January 12, 2026

BELLINGHAM — The Bellingham Parks Commission approved November minutes and heard DPW Director Jesse Riedel detail draft memorandums clarifying property maintenance splits between the town and schools at Blackstone Street, Harpin Street, and Macy School. Commissioner Doug Martin urged explicit inclusion of snow removal and salting responsibilities and suggested dropping Macy School from the agreement entirely. Director Riedel reported plans to hire eight summer helpers for stormwater basin maintenance and park trash removal, with the Parks foreperson providing training.

The Commission requested standardized directional signage for town recreation areas and scheduled its next meeting for March 9.
