Bellingham Select Board confronts $1.6 million FY27 budget shortfall. Town Administrator Joseph Laydon attributed the deficit to reduced new growth, increased retirement costs, and a $3.3 million jump in health insurance costs. The town distributed the gap proportionally between municipal and school budgets and implemented $468,000 in operating cost reductions.
FY25 closed with a $4.4 million operational surplus and an AA+ credit rating. The Board ratified Rachel Benson as Town Planner and Caleb Moody as Director of Inspections, approved a Cranes 101 Class 1 Dealers License, and granted Famous House of Pizza a change to its alcohol license.
