Commission on Disability pursues $36K audio accessibility grant.

Bellingham Commission on Disability applies for $36,000 grant to enhance Arcand meeting room audio accessibility. The three-member commission met with Town Administrator Joseph Laydon to advance accessibility improvements. The town applied for funds from the Massachusetts Office of Disability to upgrade audio systems in the Arcand meeting room, including assistive listening devices for attendees and reworked sound equipment.

The commission also discussed ongoing work on Post Office accessibility, installation of tactile strips on the Historical Museum handicapped ramp, and expanded transportation options. Laydon outlined follow-up work on Zoom licensing to allow public remote participation in municipal meetings.
