Planning Board orders battery storage peer review

Planning Board · Meeting of June 25, 2026

BELLINGHAM — Planning Board orders battery storage review, continues two Paine Street projects. The Planning Board ordered a peer review of a 5-megawatt battery energy storage system at 26 Pearl Street after the Zoning Board of Appeals denied the project; the applicant has appealed the denial to Land Court with a case management conference scheduled for July 10. The Board also continued hearings on two projects by NECC Holdings, LLC at 180 Paine Street: a preliminary subdivision creating six lots across 338.5 acres and a special permit for 1,600 housing units for residents 55 and older across 330 acres.

All votes were unanimous; all hearings continue July 23.
