Bellingham Planning Board Delays Prospect Hill Village Traffic Hearing to April

BELLINGHAM — February 27, 2025 — Bellingham Planning Board continues Prospect Hill Village traffic hearing to April 10 after inconclusive intersection safety debate. The board heard presentations from applicant traffic engineer Bill Scully of Kimley-Horn and town peer reviewer Robert Mishou of MDM Transportation Consultants on the proposed 156-unit attached single-family development off Prospect and Lake streets, with both engineers agreeing the project's impact on nearby intersections would be modest — Mishou called the Route 140 effect "inconsequential" — but flagging a sight line deficiency at the Lake Street and Prospect Street junction that currently measures approximately 185 feet against a required 200 feet. A private landowner at the corner told the board he is "not currently interested in granting any easement" for the proposed vegetative clearing and corner-rounding improvements, leaving the board without a clear mitigation path. The decision deadline was extended to April 30. At 57 Mending Street, neighbors described years of unfulfilled flooding remediation promises; the board continued that hearing to March 13 and directed the town planner to draft a final decision with enforceable conditions.
